The alterations and additions to the existing weatherboard house were conceived to improve the efficiency of the existing house while making the most of the orientation of the site. The modest front elevation and relationship to the street was maintained and provides a deceptive facade to the bold rear addition that makes no excuses about being modern and contemporary. The project is an exciting example of contemporary design sitting in harmony with traditional architectural types. The design makes maximum use of northern sunlight both internally and externally and allows for outdoor spaces that are an extension of the inside.
